Here's something fairly awesome that I just discovered: http://www.youtube.com/user/DepressionCooking#p/c/D6A6F21C9D7665FC/0/DuMkW35BwK8
It's called Depression Cooking. It's a video blog by a 94 year old woman sharing recipes and stories from her childhood in the Great Depression. This first recipe looks tasty, I'm gonna make it.
I've also made some stuff. I'm less cool than this old lady, though.
Dinner Yesterday: (Pictured above) Yesterday I made a freaking amazing Mushroom Barley Stew out of 'How it all Vegan' by Barnard and Kramer. The textures went together amazingly.
Dinner Today: Today I made Garlic Rosemary Roasted Potatoes and Vegetable Medley Kugel, both modified slightly from recipes from 'How it all Vegan.' To the potatoes I added some extra salt and used fresh rosemary instead of dried. To the kugel I added some rosemary and garlic 'caused it seemed like it could use some extra flavour. I also added celery because why not? Both turned out amazing.
Dessert: My friend Rena was over and she had the idea to make chocolate sauce to dip strawberries in. We made a recipe from 'Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World' by Moskawitze. You just boil a quarter cup of soy milk, then remove it from the heat and stir in some chocolate chips and a bit of maple syrup.
